Politics Participation in Brazil: It's high time we stopped flattering !

Politics participation in Brazil has always been linked to the wishes of the upper classes as in other countries, but here there is a counter-effect due to the fact that this country has been used as an exploration colony, provoking, thus, the rise of the Portuguese elite.

Historically, that fact caused in society a reduction of politics participation because of the border created by State that only permitted rich people to participate. Slaves, women and illiterate people couldn’t vote.

Although, Brazilian society is called democratic, and which, theoretically, freedom and equality are included as values. However, we perceive that there’s no one who is truly free, due to the lack of capacity to get to Planalto Central, or National Congress, whereas the restrict group whose the power attracts them, do it based on capital, either national or international.

Another point which exerts great influences on politics participation is education. That means, a population that has no political conscience cannot participate in any activity on that aspect, thus that changes the future of a nation.
