JOLE-CIC: When were your first contacts with music?
Fidélia: When I was a child, my father used to listen to music , mainly Brazilian Pop Music and I felt in love for music. Since then I can’t stop searching all sort of music: Jazz, Blues, MPB, Classics and many others.
JOLE-CIC: How old did you start composing?
Fidélia: First of all I started writing poetry when I was 12 years old. Later, around 17 or 18 I started composing my first songs.
JOLE-CIC: Talk about your first poetry book Amora.
Fidélia: Amora is the result of some years of my poetry experience. It is my first book and of course you can find
some immature poems.
JOLE-CIC: Do you have some songs in English.
Fidélia: Yes, I do. But I think it is very dificult to compose in another language but I try that. It is a kind of exercise. An artist always needs to be prepared for new challenges.
JOLE-CIC: Did you take inspiration from other poets before starting writing your own poems?
Fidélia: Yes, of course. I used to be to read poetry since I was a child and I still do that nowadays. Reading is a very nice exercise for a poet. I love Brazilian poets as Augusto dos Anjos, Vinícius de Moraes, Cecília Meireles,
Cristina C., Manoel Bandeira and also some of international like Fernando Pessoa, Emily Dickinson, William Blake, William Shakespeare, Alan Poe, Baudelaire and many others.
JOLE-CIC: What are your favorite books?
Fidélia: Completed Poems by Emily Dickinson; Poetry by Ezra Pound, Modinhas by Catullo da Paixão, Sonetos by Florbela Espanca; Sonnets by Shakespeare; Flores do Mal by Baudelaire; Ficções do Interlúdio by Fernando Pessoa etc.

JOLE-CIC: What are your prefered singers?
Fidélia: Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan,
Carmem McRae, Dianna Krall, Paul McCartney, Louis Armstrong, Jacques Brel, Djavan, Milton Nascimento, Francisco Alves, Agostinhos dos
Santos, Pavarotti, Pablo Milanez, Silvio Rodrigues, Omara Portuondo, Maria Bethânia, Zizi Possi etc
JOLE-CIC: What of your compositions do you like best?
Fidélia: Bilingui Holiday, Um Nordeste Blues, Flor do Agreste, Milky Way, Delírio etc.
JOLE-CIC: Have your children influenced your compositions?
Fidélia: They have been more present in my poetry.
